GLOBAL DESIGN GRADUATE SHOW 2020

As a response to the recent Covid-19 related end of year show cancellations ARTSTHREAD and i-D have launched the first ever online Global Design Graduate Show initiative for all of the students graduating this year. The competition was open to all art & design students graduating year 2019-20 (undergraduate and postgraduate) in any related creative discipline, located anywhere in the world.

4482 students have uploaded their end of year projects and taken part in this first of its kind, biggest ever online event, that is solely focused on creative students graduating this year. ARTSTHREAD has created this new curated area of shortlisted designers and artists for you to judge. It was an extremely hard decision for the independent judges to narrow down to the below shortlist of creatives in the different design disciplines.

The city to me is the feeling of a pulsing and breathing creature. Made of people and lives in search of that sense of home in the mess that surrounds them. I wanted to catch it through the lens of my craft, painting with colors and lines overlapping like a stream of consciousness that would embody the flaneur experience of walking and living in New York.
Then, the pandemic broke out and I had to leave New York to go back to my home with my family in Northern Italy. Thus, I kept going with the project with a different catch: it wasn’t about the city anymore. Rather, the relation with those enclosed spaces of the house with my family. The feelings that environments can create in us.
